TC Challenge & Yoga Booty Ballet

Today's challenge move comes from www.sparkpeople.com , yes, I really love this site. The wealth of information never ends.

Exercise Animations
Starting Position
Begin this exercise by placing one hand on Swiss ball, standing with the same side leg behind the Swiss ball. The opposite hand is holding a dumbbell with your palms facing inward. The opposite leg is held off the floor approximately 12 inches. Bend at the hips so that you create a flat back. Your spine should be in a neutral position.

Action
Pull dumbbell straight up to the side of your chest, keeping arm close to your side. Slowly lower to starting position but don’t let the dumbbell touch the floor. Try doing 2 sets with 10-12 repetitions for each arm.

Special Instructions
This exercise works on your stabilizers to help create better balance.

Muscles Worked: Upper back, Shoulders, Biceps

Yoga Booty Ballet Complete Workout System I did the toning basics DVD this morning.

The concepts are good. The attempt at blending ballet, Yoga, and Dance is merged together is admirable. If I had to this video in front of anyone else I would feel really silly as some of the moves are a bit awkward ... but you can feel where each move is working. Some moves I feel very uncoordinated while doing but the instructors do remind you that you can use a chair.

The video portions of the techniques and poses could be of better quality. The shots of the drummer (Rabbi from Crunch) don't really help in the instruction and seem to be more for artistic affect. The backdrops are beautiful, I have other Yoga DVD's where the room is just a studio with solid lighting, and simple furniture and it was beautiful as well, and the video quality better. I don't care for the change of scenery at the end of each sequence ... but that's just me.

The instructors know what they are doing. This I expected.
They give clear direction at points that if you need to take your time, or slow down, or go at your own pace you were encouraged to do so, which I appreciated. People need to know this.

The packaging and leaflets mentioned nothing about needing weights, which I find is a very important oversight that people should know about. What other props or accessories do I need to follow along in the video.

The daily guide to using the 3 DVD set was good. Without that I would have been lost as to how to arrange the usage of the 3 DVDs.

I've done ballet, Yoga, and Dance so this was just the DVD I was looking for. Its good, I can get a workout with it. Just wish the video quality was consistent throughtout the entire range of scences.

I purchased mine at Target for about $30 ... seems high for what I usually spend but there are 3 different workouts, workout/food guide, & an exercise mini ball. You can purchase this set at www.amazon.com or even the beach body web site.

  3. Hey Emmi, I started working out in June doing P90... my goal was to work up to P90X!!! I ended up buying SI6 from Beach Body. I just started Tues. with SI6. I plan on doing that til the first of the year, then I'll take the test for P90X. I feel better now that I work out on a regular basis, but haven't seen any weight loss, really, but feel better and have lost inches.. take care! Lisa
